Militants belonging to the Yung Aung faction of the NSCN-K opened indiscriminate fire at Longkhaw village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, while attempting to kidnap a villager.
However, the locals in the village resisted the militants and foiled their attempt to kidnap the villager.

The locals while trying to rescue the villager thrashed as many as 4 rebels who entered the village and tried to kidnap a man by the name Khamjan Wangsu.
The Gaon Bura of the Longkhaw village has also seized two AK-47 assault rifles the rebels were carrying.

The villagers have also filed an FIR with the Longding Police Station seeking action against the militants.
In the FIR, the village authorities complained that the group of militants were led by self-styled Lieutenant of the outfit – Palai Wangnow.
They stated that the militants after entering the village opened fire indiscriminately and tried to abduct Khamjan Wangsu.
The villagers alleged that the militants also ‘tortured’ Khamjan Wangsu in the middle of the road of the Longkhaw village.

The village authorities in their police complaint stated that they tried to secure the release of Khamjan Wangsu peacefully.
But, the situation heated up resulting in breaking out of a scuffle between the villagers and the militants.
However, the villagers were able to rescue Khamjan Wangsu from the group of militants.
“…we earnestly request you to kindly lodge FIR and take necessary action against the same, so that we can live our life peacefully,” the villagers urged the police in the FIR.
