Arunachal Pradesh legislator Nyamar Karbak on Monday appealed to the people of the State to take advantage of the cluster farming and nutritional kitchen garden schemes initiated by the government so as to lessen the dependency on other states for necessary vegetables and livestock.
“Though several developmental activities have been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the state as well as the central government is trying its best to accelerate the development process despite the same,” said.

“So we should take advantage of such schemes which would help us become ‘self-reliant’,” Karbak said.
The legislator was addressing a meeting convened to take stock of COVID-19 preparedness in the Liromoba constituency in West Siang district.
Karbak also appealed to the villagers to stop imposing ‘self-lockdowns’ in villages.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is here to stay at least till the time a vaccine or treatment is not available and such self imposed lockdown of villages is causing a lot of financial damage, especially to the daily wage earners,” he said.
The MLA further reiterated his assurance to bear all financial expenses for treatment of COVID-19 patients within his assembly constituency.
Earlier, district family welfare officer Dr Tomar Kamki briefed the house on COVID-19 related awareness activities carried out in the villages of Liromoba constituency while district nodal officer Dr Jombom Kato spoke on the present COVID-19 status of West Siang district and the latest SOPs issued by the government.
Dr Kato said ‘though a True-Nat machine has been installed in the district, it is yet to function due to certain technical issues’.
District medical officer Dr Moli Riba updated the house on the activities being carried out by the health and other frontline workers of the district and the difficulties they face whilst on duty.
Darak circle officer Jumyir Ronya, Kamba circle officer Dr N Danggen, Kamba CHC medical officer Dr Kengam Ninu, Liromoba PHC senior medical officer Dr J Romin, Liromoba extra assistant commissioner M Karlo and Yomcha additional deputy commissioner H Karga also spoke on the occasion.
