A man in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district has been sentenced to a 20-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl. 

The sentence was pronounced by a special court in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The man, identified as Anil Chakma, has been convicted by the Court under section 6 of the POCSO Act. 

Chakma, in July last year, had sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl, when she was at a shop to buy biscuits.

The convict, who was in an intoxicated state, had dragged the minor girl to a nearby bamboo groove and forced himself on her. 

The incident was informed to the victim’s mother by an eyewitness, who then lodged an FIR at Diyun police station. 

Police then launched a manhunt for Chakma and eventually nabbed him.
