A devastating fire broke out at the office of Aizawl deputy commissioner in the wee hours of Friday.

The fire broke out at around 3:15 am on Friday.

Most parts of the Aizawl DC’s office have been completely destroyed in the fire.

Several fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the inferno.

Meanwhile, the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

However, it is suspected that the fire broke out due to short-circuit.

Notably, EVMs for the by-elections to a few AMC seats, which were held on Thursday, were kept at the DC’s office.

Built in 1890, the office of the Aizawl deputy commissioner is a heritage building and a colonial structure.

Fire that broke on Friday morning burned all official documents into ashes.
