Itanagar: Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese in East Arunachal Pradesh has been honoured with the 8th International Human Rights Award – 2018 by the All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice (AICHLS) at the India Islamic Centre auditorium in New Delhi on Sunday.

On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day,  the AICHLS honoured a host of eminent personalities who have contributed with selfless services for the welfare of the society.

Bishop George was honoured with the award for his contributions to the education and healthcare of the tribal people of the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh.

Hailing from Kerala, Bishop George has established 46 schools, catering to the educational needs of 18000 poor tribal children, 85 boarding for boys and girls, 17 dispensaries, one hospital, one bachelor degree college, and one vocational training centre for school dropouts.

In April this year, he was honoured with Bharat Gaurav Lifetime Achievement Award by the Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha for his massive contributions in education, healthcare, culture and environment among the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
