Guwahati: A brief exchange of fire was reported between security forces and suspected militants along the Indiaโ€“Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s Changlang district on Thursday, officials said.

The incident occurred between Border Pillars 172 and 173, where personnel of the Assam Rifles were overseeing the construction of border fencing along the international boundary.

According to preliminary information, the paramilitary troops came under fire from suspected insurgents, triggering a retaliatory response and a brief gunfight in the area. During the exchange, a soldier identified as Ravi Kumar sustained injuries, though there were no reports of casualties among the militants.
