Guwahati: Just a few days ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, at least four MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh shifted to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

As per reports, two of the four were Congress MLAs and two National People’s Party (NPP) legislators.

With the four MLAs joining the BJP, both parties now have two MLAs each in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.

The MLAs who joined the BJP from Congress today are Ninong Ering and Wanglin Lowangdong, while Mutchu Mithi and Gokar Basar were from the NPP.

They joined the BJP during a formal function at The BJP headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh.

The MLAs shifted sides in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and state BJP president Biyuram Wahgem.

The sudden shift has been seen as a major blow to the Congress while giving a boost to the BJP as both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are due in the state this year.
