A trial flight of Flybig Airlines safely landed at the Pasighat Airport in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.
According to to the Union civil aviation ministry, Flybig will start its scheduled civil operations from Monday (May 24).
The ministry expects that the direct flights under the central government’s UDAN scheme will boost the economic opportunities in the region.

“A trial flight operated by @flybigairlines landed safely at Pasighat Airport. The scheduled civilian operations will commence 24th May onwards. Direct flights under #UDAN will significantly boost the economic opportunities in the region,” the civil aviation ministry tweeted on Sunday.

Terming the development a “significant milestone in building air connectivity”, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu in a tweet on Sunday said Flybig Airlines will connect the state with Guwahati under the central government’s UDAN scheme.
Khandu said now people can avail affordable travel from Arunachal Pradesh.

Now Pasighat Airport will have services of two airlines – Alliance Air and Flybig.
Alliance Air launched its commercial operation from Pasighat Airport on May 21, 2018.
“Pasighat Airport saw the trial landing of another regional airline ‘Flybig’ which will provide regional connectivity to Guwahati and Shillong under UDAAN Scheme…Pasighat Airport will be having 2 Airlines in operations now..Alliance Air and Flybig,” the East Siang deputy commissioner tweeted.

In Assam, Flybig launched its inaugural flight at the Rupsi Airport in Dhubri district on May 8.
“In conjunction with the UDAN initiative, flybig, India’s newest friendly regional airline, provides connectivity to destinations that were hitherto not accessible by air,” Flybig states in its website.
