The prime accused in the killing of West Kameng deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Bomto Kamdak has been killed in an ‘encounter’ with police.

The man identified as Tagyung Yangfo alias Jombo Yangfo, accused of killing DSP Kamdak in 2016, was reportedly killed on Saturday morning at Rama Camp in Dirang under West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, TOI reported.

Police earlier had announced a bounty for information on Yangfo.

Director General of Police (DGP) RP said a team of police led by crime branch SP Navdeep Brar asked him to surrender but he fired at the police team.

“The policemen retaliated in self-defence in which he suffered gunshot injuries and died on the way to hospital,” DGP Upadhyay said.

He said one bullet hit the bullet proof jacket of the SP during the exchange of fire.

Kamdak, posted as a DSP in East Kameng district, was killed in a gunfight between the police and miscreants at Seppa on August 13, 2016.
