Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday called upon the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to adhere strictly to project timelines and complete transmission infrastructure in tandem with upcoming power generation projects.
While presiding over a review meeting on the comprehensive plan to strengthen the transmission and distribution network in Itanagar, Mein emphasised that the state must be fully prepared to evacuate power from new generation facilities. He said the commissioning of the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project, along with several other projects in the pipeline, makes it essential to have transmission lines operational well in advance to avoid any delay in power delivery.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that dependable electricity extends beyond basic household needs and serves as a critical driver for education, healthcare services, employment opportunities, industrial expansion, and overall economic growth in Arunachal Pradesh.
Reaffirming the governmentโs commitment, Mein said the state is prioritising stronger power connectivity, uninterrupted and quality electricity supply, and balanced development across urban areas as well as remote and border regions.
Officials attending the meeting presented updates on progress under the scheme, including the commissioning of several transmission and distribution facilities, completion of priority transmission corridors, and the resolution of multiple long-standing infrastructure bottlenecks.
The review meeting was attended by Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte, Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, ministers, and senior officials, who collectively deliberated on measures to further fast-track power infrastructure development across the state.
