Arunachal bags 16 medals in national wushu championship

Arunachal Pradesh has recently bagged a total of 16 medals in the 18th Junior National Wushu Championship 2019 held at Punjab University in Chandigarh.

The Arunachal Pradesh state wushu team bagged a total of eight gold medals, six silver medals and two bronze medals.

The national event was held in Chandigarh from Sunday to Thursday.

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu congratulated the state wushu team for putting up a ‘good fight’ against the other competitors in the national event.

Khandu tweeted:

‘#GoodFight put up by our Arunachali #Wushu team in #Chandigarh | 8 Gold, 6 Silver, 2 Bronze Congratulations to our #Gold medalist Onilu Tega, Taug Ama, Nyeman Wangsu, Mepung Langmu & other medal winners. 18th #JuniorWushuChampionship | 15-20 September 2019 Chandigarh’

Around 23 members representing the Arunachal Pradesh state wushu team went to the national event.

The players representing Arunachal Pradesh in the ‘Sanda’ event were Latwang Kamhua, Chow Sumetha, Tok Ajit, Kigo Yoka, Buku Goi, Ripaksho Chikro, Bachi C Khunjuju, Gyamar Kana, Rinchin Lamu, Onilu Tega, Taug Ama and Dorjee Dreema.

On the other hand, Sunday Sangdo, Mepung Lamgu, Mercy Ngaimong, Yorna Roshni, Nyeman Wangsu, Realu Boo, Toku Apum, Dani Nuri and Liyum Lollen competed in the ‘Taolu’ event.

The team was led by Maibam Premchandra as the coach while Techi Juna accompanied the team as its manager.
