Army and police in a joint operation apprehended two NSCN (Reformation) cadres with arms and ammunition on Friday at Longtom area under Kharsang police station in Arunachal Pradesh.

The cadre were identified as SS CPL Mahesh Lashkar and SS CPL Nungkam Lashkar.

Sources said acting on an intelligence input, the Army unit under Dao division launched an operation and apprehended the two dreaded NSCN rebels from Kharsang area.

One .22 mm pistol, one .22 mm pistol (pistol no 847), three magazines, four .32 mm live ammunition, two. 22 mm live ammunition, two .56 mm live ammunition, one samsung smart phone and one mobile phone were recovered from the possessions of the cadres, an army sources said.

An FIR was lodged in Kharsang police station. Every year the Northeast rebel groups boycotted the Republic Day celebration in the states.

Sources said that four NSCN(R) cadres sneaked into Arunachal Pradesh to carry out subversive activities during Republic Day celebration.

Security forces have launched operation to nab the other two NSCN(R) militants.
