Guwahati: ย Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the newly built Arunachal Niwas at Dheerpur in New Delhi on Sunday, adding another major support facility for people from the state who live in or travel to the national capital.
With this new establishment, Arunachal Pradesh now has its fourth property in Delhi, underlining the state governmentโs continued push over the past decade to build infrastructure outside the state for the welfare of its people.
Apart from Delhi, similar facilities have been set up by Arunachal government in Guwahati, Tezpur, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Bodh Gaya, Bengaluru and Mumbai to provide accommodation and essential services to citizens.
Speaking at the inauguration, Khandu congratulated all those associated with the project and said such facilities are crucial for easing the difficulties faced by Arunachal residents outside the state.
โI am happy that this Arunachal Niwas will greatly help our people, especially patients coming to Delhi for treatment and students visiting the capital for higher education and admissions. The dedicated arrangements for patients would offer much-needed support to families seeking medical care in Delhi, while the location near North Campus would be especially useful for students during university admission seasons.โ he said.
โThis location is strategically important. Our students can now have a safe and convenient place to stay when they come here for admissions and academic work,โ Khandu said.
Reaffirming his governmentโs focus on balanced development, the Chief Minister said newly created districts such as Pakke-Kessang, Kamle, Lepa-Rada and Shi-Yomi would soon undergo detailed reviews to identify infrastructure and manpower gaps.
โWe will review both new and old districts to ensure no region is left behind and development reaches every corner equally,โ he said.
Khandu also acknowledged the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for Arunachal Pradeshโs infrastructure growth.
โUnder the 15th Finance Commission recommendations, Arunachal Pradesh has received around Rs 4,900 crore, and this support will help us bridge critical gaps and speed up development,โ he said.
He further stressed the need for sustainable revenue generation to ensure the long-term viability and efficient management of such public assets.
Built over 2,600 square metres with a total built-up area of 7,198 square metres, the G+8 building houses eight dormitories with six beds each, 18 double-bedded rooms, 35 twin-bedded rooms, six specially designed rooms for persons with disabilities, a separate staff dormitory, office spaces, a basement to first-floor parking, a medical room and a large dining hall.
