The 3rd Jan Sunwai Sammelan in Lohit district was conducted at Yealiang village under Sunpura Circle at Tezu recently.
The programme, organised with the motto ‘Prashashan Aapke Dwaar Pe’, turned out to be a huge success with over 2000 people thronging the venue for easy facilitation of government services, an official press release informed.
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, said that the programme was an initiative towards bringing government schemes and services to the doorsteps of common people.
Chai pointed out that the launching of Jan Sunwai Sammelan in all corners of the State was made possible only by the concerted efforts of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
He particularly lauded the efforts of district administration, heads of departments and officials for leaving no stone unturned in making the programme a success.
DC Karma Leki urged the public to participate enthusiastically and get the maximum benefit out of the programme.
Earlier, the programme began with a plantation drive to send across a strong message of mitigating the rising greenhouse effect. Saplings were also distributed during the drive.
Later, applicants and beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana, Agriculture Power Tiller & Power Dehusking Machines, Ration Cards under National Food Security Act, House Damage Relief Assistance from District Relief & Rehabilitation and Fingerlings from Fisheries Department were given on the spot by Dr Mohesh Chai as a token of encouragement.
During the sammelan, documents such as ST, PRC, Income Certificate, Aadhar card, Inner Line Permit, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Job cards, Arms License Renewal, Affidavit Stamps were also made available. Forms for driving license and registration of new vehicles were also issued. Besides this, LED bulbs and fans were made available at a subsidized rate by APEDA. A Free Mega Health Camp was conducted by the doctors and staff of Zonal General Hospital, Tezu.
Representatives of different banks also facilitated easy opening of bank accounts. General awareness programme was conducted by various departments such as Tourism, Veterinary and Textiles & Handloom.
Live demonstration and awareness was also made about EVM with VVPAT as part of SVEEP as per instructions of ECI to the voters and general public of all polling stations under Sunpura circle by the staff of DEO’s office, the release added.
