In the 12th National Shotokan Karate Federation Championship 2018 held at Bokajan Kalakhetra Auditorium in Karbi Anglong district, Arunachal Pradesh emerged as the best team.

The 12th National Shotokan Karate Federation Championship 2018, which started on April 28, saw the participation of 369 players comprising men and women including players from Bhutan.

There were 120 players from Arunachal Pradesh, 130 from Assam, 30 from Manipur, 28 from Nagaland, 41 from Meghalaya, 10 from Jharkhand and 10 players from Bhutan.

Competitions for 7 to 13 year-old players were held on Kata and Kumite.

The competition categories were Cadet – for 14 years to 15 years old players; Junior – for 16 years to 17 years, and Senior – for 18 years and above players.

Medals and prize distribution was held in the evening from 6 pm.

Reception Committee of the Championship President Atul Buragohain, Secretary Bimal Basumatary and Karate enthusiasts were present at the ceremony.

The medal tally is – Arunachal Pradesh topped the list with 29 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 24 bronze; Assam stood second with 10 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 23 bronze and Meghalaya got 4 gold medals, 3 silver and 11 bronze.
