Demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe to investigate into the murder case, the All East Siang District Students’ Union (ESDSU) staged a peaceful protest at Gandhi Chowk, Pasighat on Tuesday.

The ESDSU along with all federal units like Bogong Banggo, Bosing Banggo, Legong Banggo, AMCSU and AdiSU, AAPSU, Boriing Welfare Society, Taying Welfare Society and locals staged a peaceful protest demonstration demanding justice for late Ojing Taying.

Taying was attacked by miscreants on June 10 night at Niti Vihar at Itanagar. He died following the attack by two unidentified miscreants.

In this connection, a case was registered at Itanagar Police Station under section 341/326/34 of the IPC.

Dismayed Ojing’s father Jiten Taying, president and secretary of AESDSU Oyin Yosung and Tanong Darang respectively and the joint secretary of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) East Siang unit Kaling Eko and AdiSU president Nang Gao warned of democratic protest if justice is not meted out soon.

In their joint statement, the organizations stated that the whole issue was briefed to the State’s Chief Minister and Home Minister last year and they were assured of a proper investigation.

“The Government should take stern action against the investigation officer(s) as police failed to arrest any of those involved in the killing, till date,” they stated.

Reportedly, the case was handed over to SIT in April this year but yielded no fruitful result, said AESDSU chairman-cum-convener, Yon Taki.

However, AESDSU made fervent appeal to the Government to refer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) instead of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) demanding prompt action in this regard.
