Two sitting MLAs of the National People’s Party (NPP) Tapang Taloh of Pangin Assembly constituency and Rajesh Tacho of Anini Assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh re-joined the Congress on Thursday along with former Ministers Lichi Legi, Komoli Mossang and senior BJP leader Eri Tayu.

A report published on Thursday by Arunachal24.in stated Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy has termed the joining of the NPP and BJP leaders as sign of Congress revival in the Arunachal.

APCC president Sanjoy also claimed many more leaders will join the party in days to come.

It may be mentioned that hardly 100 days have left for the general elections in Arunachal Pradesh.

He also said, “today’s joining will further strengthen the party in the State”.

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress chief came down heavily ion State BJP leaders and Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu for keeping mum over the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and said the “people of the State will never accept this Bill”.

Sanjay also announced that the Congress will launch a statewide movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which was recently passed in the Lok Sabha.

The report stated that the joining programme of the Congress was held at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in Itanagar, in presence of Luizinho Faleiro, AICC general secretary and in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh; Zenith Sangma, AICC secretary in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh; Takam Sanjoy, APCC president; Takam Pario, CLP leader, Er. Markio Tado, MLA and others.

Apart of the two NPP MLAa and two former Ministers, former BJP district president of Dibang Valley Bailo Mele, prominent youth leader Nokchai Boham along with his 17 supporters from Kanubari joined the Congress.

The newly-joined leaders expressed their full confidence in the leadership of AICC president Rahul Gandhi at the national level and APCC president Takam Sanjoy and CLP leader Takam Pario in the State, said the report.

With Thursday’s joining, the Congress in Arunachal Pradesh now has five MLAs including Takam Pario, Nabam Tuki, Markio Tado, Rajesh Tacho and Tapang Taloh.
