Unidentified armed miscreants on Tuesday morning torched more than ten houses at Makhan Khuman village in Manipur’s Senapati district.
Locals said the miscreants suspected to be volunteers of Maram Khullen Circle Union, a local organisation, armed with AK-47 and M-16 rifles set ablaze more than ten houses destroying properties worth Rs several crores.
The Makhan People Organisation (MPO), a local group, has condemned the incident and dubbed it as an inhuman and barbaric act.
The activists of the outfit staged a blockade on the NH-2 Imphal-Dimapur road on Tuesday in protest against the incident.
The organization has asked the police to book all the miscreants within 24 hours failing which they will continue to call for indefinite national highway blockade.
Moreover, the organization also stated that the government will be responsible for any untoward incidents in the future.
