An international footballer, Karishma Rai of Sikkim has been shortlisted in Indian U-17 Women Football Team to represent the country in the upcoming BRICS Games to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She hails from Rabongla in South Sikkim and is a regular footballer of Sikkim Football Association.
Karishma has recently undergone a 15-day long All India Football Federation coaching camp at SAI, New Delhi.
She will be flying to Johannesburg, South Africa along with the Indian team from Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi on 14 July.
Sikkim Football Association president Menla Ethenpa has congratulated her for making place in the India team and further expressed best wishes for the tournament.
BRICS is the acronym for an association of five major emerging economies of the world, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. He mentioned that Karishma Rai will get an opportunity to play with the teams of BRICS countries.
Ethenpa informed that Karishma Rai has thanked SFA over the phone from New Delhi for giving her such a golden opportunity and assured to give hundred percent to bring laurel to Sikkim in particular and India in general.
