Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday welcomed joining of 96 members from Anini Assembly constituency to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a public meeting in Dibang Valley district.

The newly-joined members include Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dipen Molo along with Anchal Chairperson of Anini block, 2 ASMs, 2 GPCs and two GPMs. Also several former panchayat leaders and public leaders joined the BJP in large numbers.

Apart from the Arunachal CM, the programme was also joined by State BJP President Tapir Gao, Art & Culture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, Tourism Parliamentary Secretary PD Sona, Planning Parliamentary Secretary Zingnu Namchoom, local MLA Rajesh Tacho and former Lok Sabha MP Laeta Umbrey.

The Chief Minister in his address said Anini is gifted with natural beauty that has landscape similar to Tawang and Mechuka. He said, for tourism to make progress in Anini, it needs good connectivity and assured of expediting the construction of two-laning of the Roing-Anini highway.

On a memorandum submitted by the locals, the Chief Minister assured that his government would prioritise building of hospital, boys’ hostel and a multipurpose hall in the area. He further assured that all infrastructure requirements for health and education sectors will be taken as priority and urged that all development schemes would be implemented through the district planning board.

Informing about the State government’s achievements, Khandu said priority has been given in education and health sectors. He said in one go, the State government has created 1300 posts in the Education department, out of which 1022 posts are for subject teachers. He said 357 posts of TGT/PGT have been created to fill up posts on promotion basis and 665 posts through direct recruitment.

Khandu said recruitment of Group A and B posts are being strictly held through Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). He said this has enabled fair chance for every community, particularly the smaller communities in Arunachal to get government service, which earlier were held by those who held clout in government machinery.

On recruitment of Group C, the Chief Minister informed that the State government has decided to hand over the recruitment process to third party agency doing away with departmental recruitment so that the process is conducted in a free and fair manner.

In health sector, the Chief Minister informed that 208 posts have been created for specialists and 108 for GDMO for which recruitment process has already started. On recruitment for specialists, Khandu informed that 74 posts have been filled through promotion by GDMOs with specialist degree. Rest 134 will be filled through recruitment.

However, Khandu observed that not many applicants are available for specialists. Therefore to meet up these gaps, he informed that the State government through UNO has tied up with Ekam, an NGO working in health sector to engage specialist doctors in the State.  The Chief Minister hoped that soon shortage of doctors and specialists in all government hospitals will be met.

Speaking on the budget, the Chief Minister said that for successful implementation of the budget announcements, the role of officers is very important. He informed that exercises have already begun for its implementation by conducting workshops and consultations with legislators and officers.

The Chief Minister informed that the State government has no dearth of funds today since for the last two consecutive financial years, the State budget has witnessed no deficit. He said collection of State’s own resources have increased by 26 pc and that’s why the State government is able to create more than 5000 jobs and able to implement the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
