BJP national president Amit Shah is slated to visit Guwahati on March 24 to take part in a booth level meeting.
Informing Northeast Now about this, Assam BJP Spokesperson Rupam Goswami said, “Our national president will attend a booth committee meeting in Guwahati on March 24. This meeting will be attended by 26,000 booth presidents of BJP across the state, along with mandal and council level workers. In this meeting, BJP will appoint 3, 26,000 ‘prishtha pramukhs.’ Later, Amit Shah will also attend a core committee meeting which will be attended by party MLAs and other top officials.”
However, Goswami refuted the possibility of Shah’s upcoming visit having any connection with the upcoming Panchayat election in the state. ” Why our party president will need to come for Panchayat elections? It is not that we are not treating Panchayat elections seriously. We will contest the poll with our full might and we are confident of winning it also. But our president’s purpose of visit this time is not the Panchayat polls” he said.
Earlier, Assam BJP President Ranjit Das had stated that BJP would contest the Panchayat poll alone without any alliance which further testifies their confidence in this regard.
