Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan at Dwarka in New Delhi on Monday.
The foundation laying ceremony was also attended by Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Ministers Jitendra Singh, Rameswar Teli and State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the present Central government is committed to the all-round development of the Northeast.

He said the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has attached unprecedented importance for the development of Assam and other northeastern States.
Shah also said to facilitate equal development of all sections of people living in Assam and other northeastern states, NDA government is working with dedication.
The foundation laying ceremony was earlier scheduled to be held on July 21, but it was postponed to August 18, 2019.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Today is a historic day for the Karbi and Dimasa people of Assam.”
He said he was immensely delighted to be a part of the momentous occasion.
Modi said the occasion “symbolizes the compassion and commitment of the NDA Government towards the welfare of the people of Northeast and faster development of the region”.
Laying the foundation of Karbi and Dimasa Bhawans will enable people belonging to hills of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao along with the people of the plains for staying in New Delhi and do their jobs, Sonowal retorted.
Sonowal said laying of the foundation stone of Karbi and Dimasa Bhwans in New Delhi is yet another example of the Centre’s initiative of fulfilling aims and aspirations to the people of the region.
The Assam CM also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for giving all help for the growth and development of Northeast.
Sonowal also said for the safety, security and integrity of the nation, the steps taken by the present Central Government deserves all appreciation.
The recent constitutional amendment would lead to Ek Bidhan, Ek Nishan Ek Pradhan (one constitution, one flag and one premier), the chief minister added.
On the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of Karbi and Dimasa Bhawan, Sonowal congratulated CEM of NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa and CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang.
These two bhawans will strengthen the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Bharat Shrehtha Bharat’ doctrine.
Union DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also spoke on the occasion.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli, Assam Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang, KAAC CEM Ronghang, NCHAC CEM Gorlosa, former Union Minister Bijoya Chakraborty were also present on the occasion.
Assam Finance Minister Himanta Sarma on his Twitter handle expressed happiness to be present at the event.
