Arrested ADF leader Ramajit Hembrom

A self-styled area commander of Adivasi Dragon Fighter (ADF) was arrested on Friday night from Dhubragaon village under Karigaon police outpost in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

Acting on intelligence input, an operation was launched by police and Army in the area and arrested the Adivasi rebel from his house in Dhuragaon village.

“The joint operations team reached the house of the suspected individual at around 12.15 am and a cordon was established by Army at around 12.30 am around the house of the suspected individual. After confirmation by a source, around 12.45 am, police began search of the house on which one suspected individual was apprehended,” said an Army official.

The arrested rebel has been identified as Ramajit Hembrom, 29, of Dhubragaon village under Karigaon police outpost in Kokrajhar district.

Three Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)s and one kitbag were recovered by from his house.

Two MFO militants arrested

In a separate incident, Army and police in a joint operation on Friday arrested two Muslim Fundamentalist Organisation (MFO) militants from Tilapara under Salkocha police station in western Assam’s Dhubri district.

Police officials said acting on a tip off, the Panbari based unit of Red Horn Division & Assam Police launched an operation in Tilapara village and managed to nab the two MFO cadres.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Shadat Ali of Singhlibara in Sonari area and Abdul Barik Bolkar Khal of Tilapara in Dhubri district.

One 7.65 mm pistol with magazines was found on them. The cadres have been handed over to Salkocha police for further investigations.
