Maharashtra police on Saturday said that 714 police personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 so far in the state.
As per reports, there are 648 active cases of coronavirus among the police in Maharashtra.
61cops of Maharashtra have so far recovered after treatment while five of them have lost their lives due to the deadly virus.
Maharashtra has 19063 coronavirus cases, with 731 deaths, and 3470 recoveries, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 59662 on Saturday.
The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 1981 so far and the number of active cases is 39834.
A total of 17846 people suffering from coronavirus have either been cured or discharged in the country so far.
United States (US) on Saturday reported over 77000 deaths due to COVID-19, according to the John Hopkins University tally.
With a total of 77,180 deaths, the North American country has now by far reported the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities in the world.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has now reached 1,283,929 in the US which is also the highest case count in the world.
The second and third countries that have been worst affected by the deadly virus are Spain and Italy.
According to the John Hopkins University tally, the total number of coronavirus cases in Spain and Italy are 222857 and 217185 respectively so far.
The death toll due to COVID-19 in Italy and Spain is 30201 and 26299 respectively.
