A total of four candidates filed their nomination papers for the by-elections to South Tura and Ranikor Assembly constituencies in Meghalaya on Friday.
The polling in both the constituencies will be held on August 23, 2018.
In Ranikor, former MLA Martin M Danggo submitted his nomination as a candidate of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), PN Syiem filed nomination papers as a candidate of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Jackiush Sangma submitted his nomination papers as a Congress candidate.
For the South Tura Assembly by-election, Congress candidate Charlotte W Momin also filed her nomination papers.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who is yet to be elected as a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, had filed his nomination papers for the South Tura by-poll on July 31, 2018.
Conrad K Sangma, who is the national president of the National People’s Party (NPP) filed nomination papers as a party candidate.
Conrad, who is still the Lok Sabha MP from Tura Parliamentary seat, has to get elected as an MLA to continue as the Chief Minister of the State.

Sources said that the CM submitted at least three sets of nomination papers to Sabrella Marak, who is the returning officer for the by-election to South Tura constituency.
The CM was accompanied by supporters and NPP leaders on his way to file his nominations.
