The 3rd Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship 2018-19, organised by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA), will be held at the RG Baruah Sports Complex in Nehru Stadium here from January 6 to January 11, 2019.
The junior tennis championship is being held for Boy’s and Girl’s Singles (under 12, 14 and 18 years) categories respectively.
The organisers have informed that a total amount of Rs 2.20 lakh will be awarded as scholarship money.
The inaugural ceremony of the 3rd Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship 2018-19 will be held on January 6, 2019 at 2.30 pm.
The closing ceremony of the tournament will be held on January 11, 2019 at 4. pm at the RG Baruah Sports Complex in Guwahati, informed Nabajyoti Kalita, general secretary, GLTA.
In the 2nd Guwahati Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship 2017-18, organised in the October month, Kaushik Bora, Bhushanhaobam, Jigyashman Hazarika, Bunty Chongtham, Harshita Bora and Namrata Das won titles in the Boy’s and Girl’s Singles – under 18, 14 and 12 years categories respectively.
The 2nd Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship 2017 concluded at RG Barua Sports Complex in Guwahati on October 30, 2017.
In the 2nd Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship 2017, in the Boy’s Singles under 18 years, Kaushik Bora clinched the title defeating Lukram Loching in a grueling match 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final.
In the Boy’s Singles under 14 years, the title was won by Bhushanhaobam who beat Aditya Bhagawati in the final in 2017.
