Tripura police on Thursday arrested six people in connection with gang-rape of a woman in Agartala.
A 32-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and dumped on a road in Agartala on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred when the woman was returning home, located at Badarghat area in Agartala, after consulting a doctor about her daughter who was sick.

Police said an auto-rickshaw driver had abducted the woman and took her towards the Agartala airport and gangraped by him and eight others in a secluded place before being dumped on a road around 11.30 pm.
The police said six persons had been arrested while the remaining three others were absconding.
The arrested accused have been identified as Pradeep Das, (auto rickshaw driver) Radhab Das, Ajoy Saha, Dipak Debnath, Priya Manish Roy and Bishal Das.
A case has been registered against them under sections 376D, 120B of the IPC.
All the accused were produced before the CJM’s court in Agartala on Thursday.
The court sent four accused to judicial custody till September 30 and two accused to juvenile home as the duo are below 18 years.
“Police have arrested six accused persons so far. And search is on for the other culprits,” West Tripura SP Ajit Pratap Singh told reporters.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Tripura with the Opposition and women’s’ organizations demanding strict punishment against the culprits.
A team of opposition leaders led by former chief minister Manik Sarkar met the victim and her family members at the hospital last night.
The All India Democratic Women’s Association and Student Federation of India (SFI) staged massive protests in Agartala on Thursday in protest against the incident.
The protesters demanded immediate arrest of all the culprits.
Tripura Commission for Women chairperson Barnali Goswami said a delegation from the commission met the victim at the hospital.
She demanded capital punishment of the culprits.
