The Nagaland Government is all set to observe the Nagaland Honey Bee Day 2018 on Wednesday.
The Day will be observed at the Multi Utility Centre in Dimapur in a function organised by the Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission with support from SDFN & GIZ.

It may be mentioned that the Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) organised a painting competition with the theme ‘Save the Honey Bees’ on November 16 at the Multi Utility Centre in Dimapur in commemoration of the 1st Nagaland Honey Bee Day.
The painting competition was held as a prelude to the Honey Bee Day celebrations with the objective to sensitize the young minds on the importance of saving the honey bees for the betterment of the future of all and to encourage to the students’ community to be the future custodians of the honeybees.
A total of 30 participants of Class 8 to 10, from 10 schools of Dimapur participated in the contest.

In the inaugural programme of the painting competition, the chairman of NBHM Ntsemo Ngullie stated that saving the honeybees is the need of the hour and urged the participants to spread the message.
During the prize declaration session, the team leader of NBHM, T Imtiwapang Aier, in his speech stated that this event was a prelude to the 1st Nagaland Honey Bee Day to be observed on December 5.
He further remarked that Nagaland was creating history by declaring a day solely dedicated to the honey bees as nowhere in the country such a day is observed.
It may be mentioned that the winners of the painting competition would be felicitated with their prize money and citations on December 5 by the chief guest of the event and their paintings would be exhibited at the exhibition stall on the Nagaland Honey Bee Day.
