Tripura Police arrested a Bangladeshi national on Saturday evening along with two pistols and four magazines.

The arrested Bangladeshi national, identified as Anumoy Chakma, was arrested following an operation carried out by a team of Natun Bazar Police Station.

Bapi Debbarma, officer-in-charge of Natunbazar Police Station informed that they had received information from a source about a person coming from Agartala towards Amarpur along with arms and ammunition.

Based on the tip-off, a team of police started search operation in the vehicles and was able to nab Anumoy Chakma from a bus along with arms and ammunition.

“The bus was moving towards Karbook under Amarpur Subdivision from Udaipur,” said Debbarma.

“The team of police nabbed Anumoy Chakma along with two pistols and ammunition from the bus.”

The police official informed that both the pistols are foreign-made.

Debbarma said the Bangladeshi national claimed that he had procured the arms from Agartala.

“He came to Udaipur from Agartala by a Max vehicle and from Udaipur, he boarded the bus,” informed Debbarma.

Police official Debbarma further informed, “Arrested Anumoy Chakma has revealed that he is a resident of Khagrachari district in Bangladesh and his father-in-law’s house is located at Karbook.”

The arrested Bangladeshi national has revealed that he had procured the pistols for some Bakul Chakma of Bangladesh.

“Police interrogation is on,” Debbarma said.
