Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held a bilateral meeting with Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu on Friday, The Kathmandu Post has reported.

Swaraj, along with her team comprising Indian Foreign Secretary, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, spokesperson at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Chief of Nepal desk, went to Baluwater for the meeting Friday afternoon.

During the meeting, Swaraj congratulated Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on successful conduct of recent elections, stated a tweet from Raveesh Kumar, official spokesperson at the Ministry of External Affairs, India.

Likewise, the two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation to take the age-old and historical partnership between Nepal and India forward.

Swaraj , earlier Friday, held a meeting with CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, SSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav separately at Hotel Soaltee.

The Indian EAM also paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas this morning.

Swaraj on Thursday evening had held separate meetings with CPN-UML Chairman and Nepal’s PM-in waiting KP Sharma Oli and leaders of Rastriya Janata Party.

During the one-on-one meeting with Oli, Swaraj congratulated him on his party’s victory in the recent elections. The two held wide ranging discussions on ways to take the special relationship between India and Nepal forward, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

After the Oli-Swaraj meeting, UML leaders, including Oli, Subas Nembang, Ishwor Pokhrel, Pradip Gyawali, Rajan Bhattarai, Bishnu Rimal and Bishnu Paudel held a separate meeting with the visiting Indian delegation, including Swaraj, newly-appointed Foreign Secretary of India Vijay Keshav Gokhle and Spokesperson for Indian MEA Raveesh Kumar.

During the meeting, Swaraj expressed happiness over the successful completion of elections as per the democratic constitution.
