Myanmar’s population has increased by more than 2 million in the five years since the 2014 nationwide census, which recorded a total population of almost 52 million, Irrawaddy reported.
According to report released by department of population, which falls under the ministry of labor, immigration and population, estimates that Myanmar’s population is now around 54,456,760 people.
Myanmar’s 2014 census was the first in the country in 30 years.

The last census before 2014 was in 1984 and recorded a population of 35.3 million people.
The country has recently been conducting the 2019 Population By-Census, a five-year update to the 2014 survey.
