Indian tourist detained in Bhutan

The Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) detained an Indian tourist for ‘desecrating’ a Buddhist religious monument in Dochula.

As per a report by The Bhutanese, the tourist from Maharashtra identified as Abhijit Ratan Hajare got climbed a chorten this week.

A chorten is a religious Buddhist monument and hajare posed for photographs by standing at top of it.

Hajare was a part of a 15 bike convoy which had been touring the scenic places of Bhutan and the convoy is lead by a Bhutanese citizen.

The outrageous incident took place after the convoy decided to rest in an area near the Dochula Pass.

While the rest of the convoy was slumbering, Hajare who was on a stroll and when he came across a chorten he decided to climb it with the help of carpenter’s ladder.

The carpenter was working on some repair works of the chorten.

The incident took place without the knowledge of the leader of the convoy.

Hajare’s image standing on top of the chorten caused a lot of uproars after it went viral on social media.

Many people requested for strict action against Hajare for hurting the religious sentiments of the people of Bhutan.
