Bhutan Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering on Sunday said February is an auspicious and a special month for all Bhutanese.

Dr Tshering said this while addressing 245 men and women, neatly dressed in orange, who offered Zhabten to the King at Tencholing.

These enthusiastic volunteers at Tencholing were among over 1,700 trainees across the country, who will undergo the 44th accelerated De-suung program starting today, PM Dr Tshering said on a Facebook post.

Speaking to the participants, Prime Minister Dr Tshering said: “The month marked the birth anniversaries of His Majesty The King and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.”

It was a festive month of losar. And this year, the month saw the issuance of two Royal Kasho which held unprecedented and transformational details for the country and the country’s future.

“And the Raising Day of De-suung, a program which is an emanation of His Majesty’s vision to maintain peace and harmony also happens to be in February,” Lyonchhen said.

He said the De-suups have rendered numerous services across the nation, but the biggest service and responsibility would be the transformation the De-suups are expected to bring in our societies.

The Bhutan PM also said it would have been the collective merit and the positive deeds in the past that have forged the association of this lot with the blessed institution that originated from the King’s compassionate heart.

For coming forward in their quest of volunteerism and service to the nation, Lyonchhen thanked the trainees and wished them success.
