One elderly man lost his life after cyclone ‘Bulbul’ lashed its fury along the coastal districts of Bangladesh.
As per reports, the 65-year-old man Hameed Fakir has lost his life after a tree collapsed in his house in south central Bangladesh’s Patuakhali at 3:30 am on Sunday.
Moreover, over a million people had been evacuated ahead of the cyclonic storm in India and Bangladesh on Saturday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the severe cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ over coastal West Bengal moved east-northeastwards with a speed of 17 kmph during past nine hours and weakened into a cyclonic storm.
The IMD also stated the storm will weaken into a deep depression over coastal Bangladesh gradually.
The cyclonic storm made landfall near Sagar Island in West Bengal on Saturday evening.
Two deaths were reported from India- one in West Bengal and the other in Odisha.
A man was killed at a club in Kolkata’s upmarket Ballygunge Place area when a tree was uprooted and fell on him during the squally weather.
One person died due to a reported rain-related wall collapse at Kendrapara district in Odisha.
Bangladesh’s two biggest ports Mongla and Chittagong remained closed due to the cyclonic storm.
Moreover, operations at Kolkata airport were also suspended for twelve hours from 6 pm on Saturday.
