New Delhi: Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal praised the newly presented union budget 2024 for its measures aimed at bolstering the shipping and cruise industry.

Speaking to the media, Sonowal outlined the central government’s ambitious vision for the sector over the next quarter-century.

“In the budget, various steps have been taken to boost the shipping and the cruise industry,” Sonowal said.

He said: “It is clear that in the next 25 years, India will be a part of the top five countries in the shipping industry.”

The minister highlighted the budget’s focus on ship repairing and shipbuilding, stating that it will be significant in economic and employment growth.

“The work related to ship repairing and shipbuilding will get a huge boost and lakhs of people will get employment opportunities,” he stated.
