On the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day celebration, the principal of Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls’ College, Dibrugarh, Dr Dilip Kumar Bhuyan released the first independently authored book titled ‘Critical Perspectives’ by Bornali Nath Dowerah, Assistant Professor of English at the college premises on Wednesday.

The book is a humble attempt to analyse fictional works of literary luminaries across the world. The cornerstone of all the chapters in this book has been women and society.

Works of nine writers have been selected over a period of time, though it is not an attempt to pronounce a verdict on their quality of work.

It is just a rundown of the treatment meted to various issues in their works.

It is also a small effort to analyse fiction works through critical lenses and present it to the readers. The special domain that has been touched upon is the nexus in women, literature, class and society.
