State minister for Health and Family welfare Pijush Hazarika on Sunday participated at the state level International Youth Day celebrations at DHSK college in Dibrugarh.

Dibrugarh District Administration in collaboration with Assam State AIDS Control Society organized a state level event on the occasion of International Youth Day at Dibrugarh.

The theme this year is “Safe spaces for youth”

Speaking on the occasion, Pijush Hazarika said the young generation are the future of a nation and how they help nation to develop depends on them. “Out of 108 crore population, 10 per cent of youth are living in conflict prone areas and most of them are deprived from education. Therefore, we should take necessary steps and show them the right path. The future of the country largely depends on the youth power and we should encourage them to bring change in the society,’’.

Hazarika flagged off an awareness rally from Deputy Commissioner Office. Later, a blood donation camp was organized at DHSK College.

Debate competition, easy writing, extempore speech, photography, mobile film making competitions were held.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, Lahowal MLA Rituparna Baruah, Deputy Comissioner Laya Madduri, Project Director of Assam State AIDS control society Anurag Goel were present at the programme.
