Tripura Police family donate Rs 1.17 crore to CMRF to combat COVID-19

The Tripura Police family on Thursday donated Rs 1,16,90,343 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for strengthening the fight against COVID-19.

On behalf of the Tripura Police family, Tripura DGP in-charge Rajiv Singh on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 1,16,90,343 to chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Chief minister Deb has thanked the Tripura Police family for their gesture.

The amount has been voluntarily contributed by 2,0253 members of the Tripura Police family comprising all ranks.

Informing about the donation, Chief minister Deb tweeted: “On behalf of the people of Tripura I thank Tripura Police family for donating Rs 1,16,90,343 to CM’s relief fund today towards strengthening the fight against COVID-19.”

“I appreciate 20253 members of Tripura Police for their voluntarily (sic) contribution for this noble initiative,” he added.

In a letter handed over to the Tripura chief minister along with the cheque, Singh said “Tripura Police expresses its concern towards all the fellow citizens of the state who are facing this unprecedented challenge due to the spread of COVID-19 virus & accompanying social, economic and health crisis”.

“In this hour of crisis, Tripura Police have endeavoured to ensure a humane and responsible approach to handle the crisis without overlooking the professional and firm approach which the situation demands,” he stated.

Singh also said the Tripura Police have tried their best “to assist various vulnerable sections of society and ensured its services even in the interior areas of Tripura that are challenging to reach”.

The officers and all ranks of Tripura Police family have collectively decided to strengthen the efforts of the state in fighting the spread of the virus by way of making voluntary contributions,” said the DGP in-charge.

“In this regard, 2,0253 members of Tripura Police family comprising all ranks have voluntarily contributed a total amount of Rs 1,16,90,343 (Rupees One crore sixteen lakhs ninety thousand three hundred forty three only) to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Tripura,” he said.

Singh assured the chief minister that “in this unprecedented fight against the global pandemic, every personnel of Tripura Police is wholeheartedly committed and shall leave no stone unturned to fight this pandemic”.
