With the demise of one more positive patient due to COVID19 infection in Manipur, taking the state’s death toll toll 8 on Thursday.
The latest victim of the deadly disease has been identified as a 15-year-old boy, who was a resident of Bishnupur district.

He died at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, according to official sources.
The patient was also suffering from kidney problems.

A 56-year-old male patient from Khongjom in Thoubal district was the first victim of the disease in Manipur.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID19 positive cases in the state rose to 3,217, including 1,304 active cases.
In the last 24 hours, 115 persons including 50 female from general population and 9 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), tested COVID19 positive.
The new cases were confirmed as positive at Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories of RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West RAT, Babina Diagnostics Centre, district hospitals of Churachandpur, Kakching and Shija hospitals, Dr Kh Sasheekumar said in a press release.
The new cases are from Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Kamjong, Bishnupur and Kangpokpi.
Twenty one, out of the general population, are returnees from other states and the rest 94 are locals without any significant travel history, it said.
They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release said.
In the past 24 hours, 43 persons were discharged from RIMS, COVID care centres of Meitram, Thoubal, Tamenglong, Ukhrul after they were found COVID19 free RT PCR test, the release added.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 3,217 including 536 from central security personnel, it added.
The cumulative number of discharged cases is 1,905 including 83 from security personnel.
The number of active cases is 1,304 including 453 central security personnel, it said.
