Manipur is COVID-19 free after both the patients tested negative by Sunday.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said the state no longer has any COVID 19- positive case.
The second patient, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Imphal, tested negative for the disease, he further informed.
N Biren Singh took to Twitter to announce the news.
He tweeted:
‘I am glad to share that Manipur is now Corona free.Both patients hv fully recovered and have tested negative.There are no fresh cases of the virus in the state.This has been possible because of cooperation of public &medical staff and strict enforcement of lockdown’
An official at the state Health department disclosed that the second patient is is likely to be discharged soon, if he tests negative for the disease the second time.
The 65-year-old patient was found to have contracted the disease following his return from the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamudddin.
The first case in the State was that of a 23-year-old woman who had returned from the UK.
