All superheroes don’t wear capes; some rides the motorbikes as well!

We have heard about reel life superheroes who fight the evils to defend the common man. But a Kerala medical sergeant not risked his life but rode over 150 kilometres to deliver medicines to a 4-year-old cancer patient.

The family ran out of cancer medicines in late March and were unable to purchase during the ongoing lockdown.

The patient, a 4-year-old girl, lives in Kerala’s Alappuzha district.

He family makes a monthly trip to the Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram for chemotherapy.

After the chemo-unit was shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, she was advised to temporarily take medication.

The medicines aren’t available in her district and after their stock exhausted, the family got in touch with Antony Ratheesh, a civil police officer.

Ratheesh then got in touch with his friend Vishnu- a former police officer and who is now a sergeant at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

Upon Ratheesh’s request, Vishnu got the medicines from the Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram and rode to Alappuzha district to deliver it.

The girl needed to take the medicine daily at 6: pm and Vishnu covered the distance of over 150 kilometres within a span of 4 hours.
