The NSCN(IM) has been in peace talks with the Centre for the last more than two decades to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue.

The outfit said the world is in turmoil as the number of people infected with the virus is increasing and the death toll climbing with India no exception.

Though Nagaland state till now has no positive case, there is no reason for laxity and everyone should stand by the lockdown rules, the outfit said in a release issued by its ministry of information and publicity.

“The fight against COVID19 is going on in warlike manner all over India. There is no other option lest we open the door for the contagious virus to play hell among us,” the NSCN(IM) said.

It said the present situation calls for leaving aside petty politics but to jointly fight with “one voice one action” in solidarity with the rest of the world.

The outfit lauded the doctors, nurses and other medical personnel who are going through horrendous time, leading from the front putting their lives at heavy risk.

“Let us continue to uphold them in our prayer. They are the brave real fighters living up to their medical ethics that patients are the priority. May God give them the strength, physically and spiritually, to carry on their profession unhindered,” the outfit said.

It added, “We should be prepared for the worst, depending on the situation even after the ongoing lockdown period is over because it is a matter of life and death. But, above everything let us renew our faith in God and fight the good fight with Him as our sustainer and protector.”
