A 25-year-old COVID-19 positive woman gave birth to a healthy and uninfected baby boy at Pune’s Sassoon Hospital on Monday.

“She was admitted to the hospital on April 16 after she had tested positive for COVID-19,” hospital sources informed.

“The newborn is healthy and uninfected and he has been kept in a separate ward. The child is presently looked after by nurses and doctors,” the sources added.

With a total of 4,204 positive cases and 223 deaths so far, Maharashtra is the the worst-affected state in the country.

According to government data, there are 17 and 546 cases in Pune and Pune Municipal Corporation area respectively.
