A Bengaluru doctor claims to have developed an effective treatment for coronavirus and he says this could be ready for trials by this weekend.
According to oncologist Vishal Rao, the treatment involves retriggering of the immune system.
“The immune system gets compromised after a person is infected by Sars-Cov-2 virus. Let me clarify, the medicine under preparation is not a vaccine,” Rao added.
Rao informed that he and his have been able to build a concoction of cytokines and the same can be injected to reactivate immune system in Covid-19 patients.
“We’re in a very initial stage and hope to be ready with its first set by this weekend,” Hindustan Times reported quoting Rao.
He further added that an application had been made to the government for an expedited review of the possible treatment.
This development comes on a day when the health ministry announced participation in a WHO-led trial of medicine along with other steps to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic on a war footing.
