Seven yoga teachers’ diploma holders (of batch 2016-17) were given certificate of ‘Kayayogi’ in a brief programme held on Sunday at Lekhika Samaroh auditorium at Chowkidingee, Dibrugarh.
The one-year job-oriented yoga course at Swami Shivananda Yogajyoti Mahavidyalaya has been promoted by the Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre, Guwahati and affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam.
Minu Borgohain, principal of the yoga college, presided over the programme while other guests present were Yogacharya Subhasish, founder president of Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre, Guwahati, Soma Chakraborty, Dibrugarh Municipal Board chairman, Sonu Roy, director of Swami Shivananda Yogjyoti Mahavidyalaya, Sebon Prasad Sarmah and Abdul Khaleque, renowned social activists of Dibrugarh and others.
The diploma holders will now be able to associate themselves in yoga service in all institutions. The seven diploma holders are Surabhi Doley, Puspanjali Kuli, Geetali Gogoi, Reshmi Chakucha, Perina Baglari, Wasima Khatoon and Rajarshi Chowdhury.
The programme also included yoga demonstration, felicitation of yoga teachers, Guru Vandana, taking of pledge by pass-out students and discussion on prospective of the yoga course.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rekha Sharma Baruah, secretary of Swami Shivananda Yogajyoti Mahavidyalaya, Dibrugarh.
