On the day when the overall COVID19 tally in Assam stands at 16,071, a total of 468, who were earlier infected the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals across the state on Sunday.
Sharing the good news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Sunday said: “Discharge Alert. 468 patients discharged today.”
The health minister termed the recovery rate a good sign and hoped the state will win the fight against the COVID19 pandemic.
Asking the citizens of the state not to panic, health minister Sarma tweeted: “Our good recovery rate is a sign that we can definitely combat the pandemic. Just hold on and don’t panic.”
With the release of 468 COVID19 patients, the total number of discharged cases in Assam increased to 10,894.
He said the the state currently has 5,138 active cases.
In another tweet, the health minister expressed the health minister informed about the death of another COVID19 positive patient in Assam.

The COVID19 victim has been identified as 36-year-old Ashish Sahewal from Jorhat who had no history of comorbidities.
Sahewal complained of breathing difficulty at 5 am in Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) and lost the fight to the virus at 2.20 pm on Sunday.
“Sad to share that Jorhat’s Ashish Sahewal (36), with no history of comorbidities, presented with sudden onset breathing difficulty at 5 am at JMCH, and lost the fight at 2.20 pm. He was #COVID +,” Sarma tweeted.
