Two more persons of Assam’s Jorhat district, who were vaccinated against COVID19, have been found positive for the virus, taking the number of vaccinated and then found positive cases to 9 in the district.

One among these cases, Sankar Prasad Khound, a resident of Atelia Gain at Jail Road died at Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) on Tuesday.

Khound was vaccinated on March 4 at JMCH.

Even after vaccination, he tested positive for COVID19 on March 13 and admitted to the hospital the same day, but lost his life due to infection on March 23.

Sources said the two vaccinated persons, who were found positive for COVID19 after vaccination, are JMCH staff members.

In the last week, a female intern of the JMCH, who was administered the shot, too tested positive for COVID19 later on.

In the last 10 days, altogether 9 people of Jorhat district in Assam, who were given the first shot of the vaccine (except one person who took two shots), were found positive.

An Assam Police personnel and a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan were among the vaccinated persons, who were found positive.

Meanwhile, three positive cases were found positive on Wednesday thereby increasing the total number of positive cases in Jorhat district to 12,377 and the total number of persons discharged stood at 12,208 till date.

Jorhat deputy commissioner Roshni A Korati said 27 cases in the district were found active on Wednesday and the number of COVID19 deaths in the district was 70 till date.
