A female teacher was injured on Saturday as she was hit by a vehicle of Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy at Khanapara in Guwahati.
The incident occurred when the teacher, Deepa Payeng ran after the convoy in protest against not receiving an appointment letter from the state government.
The education minister distributed appointment letters to 4511 elementary teachers during a function held in the city on Wednesday.

Although the state government was supposed to provide appointment letters to 12,000 teachers, only 4511 received them.
“The state government has insulted us by not providing appointment letters. I am a graduate and have been teaching since 1995,” said Payeng, who hails from Jonai in Dhemaji district.
A group of teachers, who have not received the appointment letters, also staged a protest in the venue.
