Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police has busted a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) racket, arresting two individuals and seizing a massive amount of Rs 6.87 lakhs in fake currency in Guwahati.

A police source informed that the STF team received input regarding the dealing of FICN in Khanapara.

As the STF reached the scene, the suspects fled in a car, which was later chased and detained at Kainadhara-APSC road under Dispur Police Station jurisdiction.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Md Sahil Ali (21) from Kamrup, Assam, and Harsh Wahlang (20) from Ribhoi, Meghalaya.

A thorough search of Md Sahil Ali’s rented house in Baridua, Khanapara, led to the recovery of additional FICN, a printing machine, and other materials.

The police source further informed that fake currency amounting to Rs 6,87,500 was seized from the duo.

One FICN printing machine, one mobile phone, three bundles of printing papers and a car was also seized from the suspects.

The STF has handed over the accused to the Dispur Police Station for further investigation.
