Guwahati: Dispur police on Tuesday arrested a 34-year-old ICICI Bank manager in connection with the death of a young woman at a rented apartment in Guwahati’s Hengrabari area.
The deceased, identified as Dolly Kashyap, hailed from Sualkuchi in Assam and was working for an insurance company. She resided as a tenant at Neha Apartment in Hengrabari.
Police reached the residential complex following the discovery of the body and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to reports, police recovered a suicide note bearing the name of Biswanath Das. The note allegedly cited physical and mental harassment, claiming the mistreatment led Kashyap to take her own life.
Das, the arrested accused, is the son of Prafulla Kumar Das and belongs to Arrah village under Adra police station in West Bengal’s Puruliya district.
The circumstances surrounding Kashyap’s death remain under investigation, and police are yet to establish the sequence of events.
